Sheikh Al-Siddiq Omar Yaqoub (May Allah have mercy on him) and His Intellectual and Preaching Efforts

Abstract

This study sheds light on the intellectual and preaching efforts of Sheikh Al-Siddiq Omar Yaqoub, exploring his scholarly upbringing, academic contributions, and profound impact on higher education and religious guidance in Libya. Through a descriptive, historical, and analytical methodology, the research highlights his prominent roles in university teaching, academic supervision, and institutional establishment, particularly at the Higher Academy, the Asmariya Islamic University, and various other Libyan academic institutions. Furthermore, the paper examines his major written works and dissertations in Islamic culture, philosophy, and comparative theology, most notably his master's thesis on Jamal al-Din al-Afghani and his doctoral dissertation on creedal terminology. The findings demonstrate his rigorous academic methodology, intellectual depth, and unwavering commitment to moderate Islamic discourse. The study concludes with key recommendations emphasizing the importance of documenting and preserving the scientific heritage of contemporary scholars to serve future generations of researchers.
