      Abstract

This study aims to analyze the reality of investigative journalism in Libya amid digital transformations and explore the professional, legal, and ethical challenges faced by journalists in the Tripoli media environment. Using a descriptive-analytical approach and a field study of (35) journalists from various Libyan media outlets, the research examines the impact of the digital environment on investigative practices. The findings indicate that Libyan media institutions do not prioritize investigative journalism, suffering from a lack of funding, administrative support, and specialized teams. While there is growing public interest and high ethical commitment among practitioners, the field faces significant hurdles, including weak legal protections, security threats, and difficulties in verifying digital information. The study concludes that developing this field requires institutional strengthening, specialized training, and legislative reforms to ensure information freedom and journalist safety.
