The Geographical Distribution of Banks in the City of Al-Qubba: A Descriptive Study

Abstract

This study aimed to identify the geographical distribution of banks in the city of Al-Qubba by describing their spatial distribution pattern and analyzing its geographical characteristics. The study employed descriptive and cartographic methods, alongside fieldwork to inventory the banks and pinpoint their locations within the city, while also utilizing relevant available maps and data. The study results revealed that the city of Al-Qubba has five banks distributed across three neighborhoods: three are concentrated in the Popular Housing District (Hayy al-Iskan al-Sha'bi), while one is located in each of the Loans District (Hayy al-Qurood) and the Tariq 14 District. This reflects a spatial concentration of banking services in one part of the city, contrasted by limited coverage in other neighborhoods. The study further indicated that this pattern is linked to the nature of urban and service-related activities in the city, underscoring the importance of considering the geographical dimension when planning the future distribution of banking services. The study recommended achieving a more balanced spatial distribution of banks, taking urban growth into account when establishing new branches, and leveraging geographical studies to support the spatial planning of banking services.
