Job Burnout and its Relationship to the Quality of Professional Practice among Social Workers in Educational Institutions

This study aimed to identify the level of job burnout among social workers in educational institutions, determine the level of professional practice quality among social workers, and examine the nature of the relationship between job burnout and professional practice quality. It also sought to investigate differences in the levels of job burnout and professional practice quality according to certain demographic variables including age and years of experience. The study adopted a descriptive-analytical research design. To achieve its objectives, the Job Burnout Scale and the Professional Practice Quality Scale were administered to a purposive sample of 120 social workers under the Tripoli Center educational directorate, after verifying their psychometric properties. The statistical analysis was performed using IBM SPSS V.25. The results revealed that social workers experienced a high level of job burnout, with a mean score of 83.13 and a standard deviation of 14.6, which is higher than the hypothetical mean of 58. Conversely, they demonstrated a low level of professional practice quality, with a mean score of 9.95 and a standard deviation of 1.80, which is lower than the hypothetical mean of 13. The findings demonstrated a statistically significant negative correlation (r = -0.845, p = 0.01) between job burnout and the quality of professional practice. Furthermore, the findings indicated that there were no statistically significant differences in job burnout levels attributable to age or years of experience.
