    Abstract

Abstract This research aims to study the phenomenon of semantic expansion in the Holy Quran, describing it as one of the stylistic and semantic phenomena that have contributed to enriching the Arabic language and its ability to express precise and evolving meanings. This was achieved through a study of the root (S-K-N) and its derivatives. The research revealed that this root generally refers to a single meaning, which is stillness and absence of movement. However, the Holy Quran has given this root diverse connotations, including metaphorical and specific meanings. This diversity opens the door to further comparative semantic studies between linguistic and Quranic usage to uncover these phenomena.
